"Plain" will send digests in plain text (RFC 1153); "Mime" will encode the messages as a MIME digest.

If you're going away on holiday, send the following message to brin-l-request@mccmedia.com:

set delivery off

To unset postpone mode, send:

Please do not quote large blocks of text, quote only relevant portions.

Letters to Dr. Brin or Dr. Benford should be prefixed by +++ in the header of the mail.

Please don't even try to post huge files to the list. If you want to share a file of interest to everyone, put it on a web page and post the URL.  The list server will EAT attachments, quietly, never to be seen again.

If you are posting a LONG message and would like to courteously warn the rest of us that it is LONG, please include L3 or ELL in the subject line.
