It's been one startup or turnaround after another for a long time. Co-founded a company that hoped to transform identity on the Internet. Headed marketing at an information retrieval infrastructure company founded and advised by Internet pioneers.  First Internet product manager at the leading search software company through its IPO. Created and operated the top multimedia market research, strategy and publishing company with clients in senior management in computing, publishing and entertainment. Enjoy planning and executing strategies for capturing emerging markets. Strong public speaker and writer. Technically competent; have created working prototypes for several projects, work well with engineering, sales and customers.

Co-founder, Senior Vice President. 
Invented patent-pending process for measuring public sentiment via analysis of public discussions to identify influencers, developed prototype and business plan.  We raised $7 million and brought first product to market in spring, 2001. Ongoing responsibilities included research, communications, product planning and management, results evaluation and analysis.  Traveled between home in California and office in Virginia quite a bit.  Company shut down in 2001.

August, 1999 - January, 2000

Vice President of Marketing. 
Responsible for planning and executing corporate and product marketing, public relations and market research for a company developing distributed, XML-based information infrastructure startup led by several Internet pioneers. Helped raise $10 million in venture round. Company relocated to Petaluma; I didn't.  Company shut down in 2001.

While caring for a seriously ill relative, managed my Internet investments (569 percent return in 1999), wrote a book comparing information technology in the Renaissance and today, performed market consulting for publishing supply chain integration software company (Impresse).

Took the company's search technology to the Web, where it continues to dominate embedded and server markets.  Internet product sales went from zero to $50 million. Planned and managed products; communicated strategies to customers, analysts and press. Keynote speaker at AusWeb'96, White House Conference on Leveraging Cyberspace, Internet World, PC Expo, Showcase, etc.

Co-founded with Tim Bajarin of Creative Strategies.  Published industry newsletter, on-line forums, reports, books and seminars. Clients included top management at Microsoft, IBM, Simon & Schuster, Apple, Intel and others. Supervised of staff of seven. Co-founder of the UCLA Business School's Roundtable in Multimedia. Published articles in Rolling Stone, PC World, Business Marketing, others. Sold publications to Simba Information in 1992.
