Book trailers?

I find this an interesting idea, but I think it's going to take me a
day or two to fully wrap my head around it.

some publishers will provide the first chapter of books at conventions
and on the internet.  what i don't like is all the fantasy series, so i
don't read them.  just like film series, they are rarely as good as the
original, and they follow the same formula.  now more and more SF
authors are doing it. i almost got a book by kevin anderson (the swarm)
but realized just in time there were five books preceding it...
