Thing is, religion is subjective. Some "spiritual beliefs" are treated
as religion too. There are genuine Scientology Believers out there. We
know their belief is based on a bunch of fiction and lies, but they
still believe. In that sense, to those people, Scientology is
religion. Your comparison isn't valid, because while independently
verifiable facts (such as the roundness of the planet...) are one
thing, religions are based on unverifiable precepts, and so just
because the precept is misguided, wrong or a flat out fabrication,
that says little about the religiosity of adherents.
So if someone says they believe Scientology is true, then they're
religious and Scientology is their religion.
Correctness and religion don't operate on the same axes, I have come
to discover. :-)

Good. I'm glad some people are standing against this cult. Hopefully
their influence can be diminished.
