People in the early 128k Mac days (with the early 3.5" floppies) used  
to take "open the disk" literally.  Usually on their original and only  
copy of their boot floppy.  Sometimes it was possible to hear them  
straining at it over the phone and stop them before they got the disk  
envelope open.  (I often rant on idiosyncratic understandings of  
terminology, especially when people build whole skewed understandings  
of technology on their skewed understanding of the terminology.)
